I'm always leery about overcompression and it's a hard balance to strike between making things loud and clear and losing fidelity (especially when I see such a filled/maxed out waveform), but I was worried for nothing (and EDM is where this works best, after all) :D You got my head-bopping approval :D I'm also quite surprised at the trance genre tag/genre you put on it; I've always not enjoyed trance much since it tends to be super repetitive. There's so much interesting stuff happening here, though!

I can tell you babied this piece till you could go *chef's kiss*
Hat tip to you!

mutty99 responds:

This fits imo in the Trance category because of the energy it gives, but it's a mixture of many different things: I gathered a lot of ideas to make it happen.

Plus, my keyphrase on this piece was "When you gotta be repetitive, do it in the smart way, not in the lazy way". I knew about Trance's huge monotony and I wanted to avoid that as much as I could.

I went out of my way on the structure and timing of each individual segment, everything has been put in its position for a reason.

Knowing this piece managed to give you a good experience is the greatest gratification I could receive, so thanks! =D

Pretty. That sense of longing, though! Hoping what I make in the future can be at least half as expressive!

Troisnyx responds:

You will get there; of this I am certain. If you hold the emotional literacy within you, then ultimately the rest involves figuring out what frequencies do what things to our body and psyche. I am certain that you will do it.

You're selling yourself a bit short there, buddy. This is quality stuff - never say never, although it's true that it's better to be positively surprised than *expecting* a positive outcome when the odds are against all the participants (due to a number of quality submissions). I would not be surprised if you ended up winning the compo with this entry, though. I will say, too, this sounds like C418 - you're in good company with that! ;) Cheers :)

Albe responds:

Thanks for the words man I really appreciate it. I guess you're right, I'll not compare myself with others, I liked what I did and that's all, and I'm glad you liked the song as well :D

*shakes fist at exams*

It's short and sweet, though :) Can see this as an intro to a TV series. As always, well executed :)

JessieYun responds:

Hey siteml,
Thank you very much for the comment! Yes, I know it's short -- I tried to make a shorter track this time after a long period of time haha.
I'm glad you like this!

This definitely carries the feel of a sci-fi series. I can't wait for more!

JessieYun responds:

Hey siteml,
Thanks a lot for the comment, I'm very glad you enjoyed it!

Finally got to listen to the completed version :D Well done!

JessieYun responds:

Hey siteml,
Thank you very much for the comment! I’m glad.

Jesus, this is sick. I have no words other than... I want to get that good at some point! The dynamics, the flow, the subtleties, all perfectly etching into a story. I rarely give 5 stars, and I usually have comments for improvement. You've given me an impossible task here, though xD Hats off!

JessieYun responds:

Hey siteml,
Thanks a lot for the comment, I'm very glad you think so! Glad that you loved it.

Damn... I work with the same tools (EWQL/ComposerCloud and FL Studio) and I have been heavily delving into orchestral side of things .... but even though this is more of the marching band side of things, you still remind me I have a lot to work on to get better xD Hats off.

JessieYun responds:

Hi siteml,
Thanks a lot for the comment! I'm very glad :)

Wow, nice and clean. I like how you used low and high quality parts. The part where the rain comes in kinda had me a bit confused and straining to find the guitar in the rain (and the other effect) - I figure that was a purposeful choice so I didn't take off a half star for it (I otherwise would have, bite me ;P). Great job!

GameBoyFireworks responds:

Thank you! :)

Making music has been a hobby and a passion for me since about 1996 - so as of summer of 2017 it's celebrating its turning drinking age! I've also engaged in other artistic forms like drawing/painting and poetry, but they have not been as prevalent.
